1973 Alfa Romeo 2000GTV

The final chapter of Alfa’s legendary Giulia, the 2000 GTV saw Bertone’s elegant design fitted with a muscular two-liter engine featuring SPICA fuel injection. Like its 1750 GTV predecessor, the 2000 is a revelation on a good stretch of twisting asphalt, representing decades of innovation and imbued with unmistakable Italian soul. Distinguished by a unique front fascia with multiple chrome bars representing an abstraction of the traditional Alfa grill, these GTV’s were a swansong for the proud lineage of sporting “Veloce” coupes and marked the end of a glorious era in the company’s history.

Thanks to years of meticulous and enthusiastic ownership, this ’73 GTV represents everything that a classic Alfa should be. Receipts dating back over twenty years document a dry and well-preserved car that has received numerous upgrades and improvements alongside a rigorous, no-expense-spared maintenance program.

Exceptionally solid and straight throughout, the car features pristine, original metal underneath with no signs of accident damage or previous corrosion. Panel gaps are crisp and correct, while the paint is of excellent quality with minimal wear. Originally a silver example, this GTV received a comprehensive color change and looks resplendent in a bright shade of red, more akin to Porsche’s Guards Red than the more subdued, traditional Rosso Alfa. On the crisp, sporting lines of the Bertone body the color looks spectacular and hints at the potent driving experience the car offers.

Trim, badging, and glass are in similarly excellent condition, with an extensive list of replacements documented in the car’s service history. Inside, the interior is largely original, featuring correct GTV ribbed seats with functioning headrests and gorgeous black upholstery. The dash was restored earlier in the car’s life and still presents well with no cracks while an original headliner remains tight overhead. The beautiful Jaeger gauges are intact and display a believed original 81,000 miles on the odometer.

Cared for by the experts at Alfa Auto Clinic over the last few years, the car is in perfect health and provides a fantastic driving experience. The twincam engine pulls hard after a rebuild by Prestige Import Repairs and roars through an upgraded exhaust (headers, center, and rear sections), while twin Dellorto carburetors provide an exciting power boost over the previously installed mechanical fuel injection. Strong brakes, a flawless five-speed with no synchro issues, and mild suspension upgrades are all welcome additions, as are the fetching Panasport wheels with grippy Yokohama rubber at each corner.
